Emerald Community House

The Emerald Community House Occasional Childcare is a registered care provider and has been providing quality Occasional Care for children in Emerald for many years. Childcare is available three days a week between 9.00am and 3.00pm during the school terms. As this is a community based childcare centre, it is managed by a Committee of Management elected from the local community and operates on a not for profit basis.

Our experienced Childcare Centre staff care for up to 25 children in family grouping. Children are not separated into specific age groups, but share common space and activities. Program activities are designed to foster the development of physical, intellectual, language and social skills of the children. Children make special projects to take home throughout the term, but also on special occasions such as Mothers and Fathers Days. There is also the opportunity to learn a little about other cultures and how they celebrate festivals throughout the year.

In our small and family oriented childcare centre, the staff are able to take time to ensure that the children feel loved, and to provide for each child’s individual needs. Staff also take time to interact with parents and carers, providing information and support where needed.

The Emerald Community House Childcare centre is licensed and inspected by the Department of Human Services, and meets all government regulations concerning staffing and health service delivery.

The Childcare Centre operates three days a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9.00am – 3.00pm. Full and half day bookings are available. Parents attending courses at the Emerald Community House are able to arrange childcare during courses at a discounted rate of $3 per hour. Parents who are using childcare because of work or study commitments may be eligible for assistance from the Family Assistance Office, and should notify the front office for FAO receipts.
